{"id":1766,"date":"2012-11-10T17:16:41","date_gmt":"2012-11-10T22:16:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nowthissound.com\/ntsib\/?p=1766"},"modified":"2012-11-10T17:21:01","modified_gmt":"2012-11-10T22:21:01","slug":"link-session-hurricane-relief-edition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.nowthissound.com\/ntsib\/2012\/11\/10\/link-session-hurricane-relief-edition\/","title":{"rendered":"Link Session: Hurricane Sandy Relief Edition"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve seen a lot of music and music-related hurricane relief efforts in my various feeds in the last week; I&#8217;ve gathered a bunch of them here for quick reference.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li> <a href=\"http:\/\/webaid.bandcamp.com\/\">Web Aid<\/a> is a benefit album assembled at lightening speed and featuring a wide variety of electronic music artists, including Staten Island native <a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/udachimusic\">Udachi<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/KnLDub\">Kicks n&#8217; Licks<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/thediscofries\">Disco Fries<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/soundcloud.com\/micthedrums\">Mic the Drums<\/a>. Their goal is to raise at least $5,000 for the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.binifund.org\/\">Carl V. Bini Fund<\/a>.\n<p>[Ed note: The Bini Fund is based on Staten Island, New York City&#8217;s smallest borough, and as all of you have probably seen on the news, they took quite a beating. What the news may not have mentioned is that Staten Island is also home to many, many of the first responders &#8211; police, fire, sanitation, etc &#8211; who were out in the howling wind and rain taking care of the rest of the city, and will be up to their necks in the wreckage for weeks and months to come.]<\/li>\n<li> Portions of the proceeds for the NYC premiere of the Bobby Bare Jr. documentary <a href=\"http:\/\/dontfollowmeimlost-film.com\/\"><i>Don&#8217;t Follow Me (I&#8217;m Lost)<\/i> <\/a> on Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012, will be donated to the relief efforts; <a href=\"mailto:bbjrdoc@gmail.com\">email<\/a> the filmmakers for more information.\n<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/baysidebayside.com\/\">Bayside<\/a>, who are collectively Manhattan\/Long Island\/Queens natives, have <a href=\"http:\/\/www.madmerchonline.com\/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=ibirdny#\">benefit shirts<\/a> available; proceeds to the Greater New York Red Cross.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.takingbacksunday.com\/\">Taking Back Sunday<\/a>, collectively from Long Island, have adjusted their current Tell All Your Friends tour to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.takingbacksunday.com\/nj-show-update-nyc-benefit-show\/\">include some benefit shows<\/a>. Proceeds will go to the Toms River Hurricane Sandy Relief Fund (New Jersey) and also relief efforts in Long Beach, NY.<\/li>\n<li>Richie Sambora (Bon Jovi) will be <a href=\"http:\/\/richiesambora.com\/2012\/11\/rock-for-a-cause\/\">donating all of the profits from his upcoming solo show at the Fonda Theater in LA <\/a>to the Red Cross Hurricane Sandy Fund. He&#8217;s also added some special ticket packages.\n<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/bandsonabudget.com\/\">Bands on a Budget<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.humblehumans.com\/\">Humble Humans<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/cowerking.com\/\">CoWerks<\/a>, all Jersey Shore businesses, have joined together to create the <a href=\"http:\/\/restoretheshore.cowerking.com\/\">Restore the Shore<\/a> campaign and create benefit shirts\/hoodies. Proceeds are currently going the Red Cross but other beneficiaries\/partners are in the works. They are temporarily sold out of merchandise but there is a waiting list!<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/unfloodbkmusic.blogspot.com\/\">Un-Flood BK Music<\/a> is taking donations to help rebuild studios and practice spaces destroyed by the storm, including <a href=\"http:\/\/www.translatoraudiobrooklyn.com\/Translator_Audio_Brooklyn\/Home.html\">Translator Audio<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>And finally, <a href=\"http:\/\/candidatesound.com\/\">Candidate<\/a> is offering a free copy of their new record to anyone who has contributed to hurricane relief who sends them an <a href=\"mailto:candidatetheband@gmail.com\"> email <\/a> with the subject line &#8220;I donated.&#8221; They solemnly swear no spam shall be forthcoming, only delicious music.\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve seen a lot of music and music-related hurricane relief efforts in my various feeds in the last week; I&#8217;ve gathered a bunch of them here for quick reference.
